Q&A with two choir students:

Q- What is practice like before concerts?

A- Carli Vanpelt says: “For concerts that have songs that are a joint between grades, they all go into the choir room to see how they sound all together.”

Lily Taggart says: “Practicing before concerts are nerve wracking and scary, but they can also be exciting.”

Q- Why did you join TJ choir?

A- Carli says: “I joined choir because I love to sing, and wanted to learn more about singing, and how to sing better.”

Lily says: “I joined choir because I love to sing, and singing is an important part of my life.”

Q- Do you consider your songs difficult?

Q- How long have you liked to sing?

A- Carli says: “I have liked to sing my whole life, and I especially love to sing along with my favorite artist.”

Lily says: “I have liked to sing ever since I turned five.”

Q- What is the environment like in the choir room?

A- Carli says: “The choir room is extremely loud and chaotic. When we’re singing, some people sing louder than others because they have stronger vocal cords. Sometimes, we’ll go through a measure multiple times so we can remember it. Even though it is quite chaotic, it's still super fun.”

Lily says: “The choir room is loud and chaotic, but most of the time, we can calm down and stay focused.”

A- Carli says: “Certain songs can be difficult, but once you move up in grade, the harder the songs get, because you have more experience.”

Lily says: “Some songs are difficult because sometimes, you have to hold notes for long periods of time.”
